The pre-bid amount is now $4125. The auction is two days from now and the viewing is tomorrow.

The car is local to me and the temptation to bid is huge. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately...), I do not need another project, and it does not look as if this one will be a bargain.

Even if there are no mechanical issues and it only requires replacing the mangled fender and some paint matching to make it presentable, the fact that it will always have a salvage title will significantly limit its value, which would likely be less than the eventual auction price and the cost to repair.

I am not sure that the above would matter too much to me if the value was too much less than the cost to repair as I would not intend to sell it anytime soon, but I really, really, don't need another project.....

I hope that whoever buys it does not merely part it out if it is as good as it seems to be.

Anybody out in CA willing to help me get it?
Thanks
You can register at this broker: www.autobidmaster.com and they will bid for you. It costs $150 to register and they charge $200 for their fee.

They bid on both copart and iaai auctions. You don't have to be in CA.

Good luck.

Whatever it goes for remember that the car will have a "salvage" title - making it nearly worthless on the resale market.

Also, if you own a car with a salvage title there is no point in paying for "Collision" coverage because your insurance company is not going to pay anything on a salvage title car - unless you're paying for an "agreed value" policy - which they're not likely to issue on a car with a salvage title.

So, look before you leap....

It's listed on 928 registry...and it is a GT

Timing belt @ 39k

Mathias tried to sell it for 24,900 in 2004 w 63k on it

Linen interior, Venetian Blue Metallic

9 thousand would be a great price for a 20 thousand dollar GT

Yeah, it will have a salvage title, but it's a low mileage, beautiful GT for God's sake. It looks like a great car in need of a fender and some paint. A quick peak under the wheel well with a flashlight could confirm that. I hope Bilal or someone goes after it through eijun.

The salvage/value issue is dependent to a great extent on the exclusiveness and rarity of the vehicle. True story: I knew someone who stuffed a beautiful 275 GTB long nose Ferrari into a wall. The front end of it didn't extend much past the firewall. He traded it even up for a real 427 SC Cobra.

3K for the transmission, 3K for the engine, 3K for a more or less irreplaceable interior, 400 for the tail lights, 400 for the fogs, 500 for the rear bumper, 600 for the brains, 600-1000 for the S4 suspension, 500 for the S4 brakes.

How much in parts in the remainder of a low miles 91 GT? another few grand?

If you've got time and space, you can't lose below an ~8 or 9K auction price.

Notwithstanding that it deserves to be saved if all that damage is cosmetic....
