Anytime you doubt the legitimacy of anything on the internet, and photos are included, do a google image search to see if the photos were lifted from somewhere. In this case:

https://www.google.com/search?tbs=sb...nClFupQ1EoHaD8

(if this link doesn't survive the paste, go to http://images.google.com, click on the camera icon in the search box, and paste in the ad image http://img.carsforsale.com/freeads/0...2FBF6411_3.jpg)

In this case, image search didn't actually find the ad in question, but DID figure out that the barn background was used in other Wilhoit ads and showed them to you. From this you could have surmised that at least at one time the car was for sale from Wilhoit, who would never carry a car worth only 18k and therefore must be a fraud.

This car was at Willhoit's a few months ago for like $82,000. No way is it for sale again for $18K.

Obviously somebody somewhere is falling for these scams or they wouldn't keep popping up. I'm guessing thousands if not hundreds of thousands of fake ads are posted daily... and not just for cars. It only takes one in a millions fools to make money.

This has become almost a standard scam, in the last year.

Really cheap, out of the country, at shipping company, can't see or touch it, shipping included.

You can virtually look for anything that is expensive on Craigslist and find these. They are all worded virtually the same.

100% a scam/con.

+1

Tell him your friend Tommy works down at the docks, and will check the car over.

Scam for sure, so I sent him a note asking where the car is and his answer is letter by letter what is on post #1 above
I insisted and asked where the car is, so I could do an inspection, and no replies so far.
I am curious now

I asked for the VIN but no luck. The car is still on Willhoit's site.

They haven't given up yet though.

The car is located at the shipping company warehouse from TX, sealed in a container ready to be shipped at your address. Anyway if you agree to buy it you'll have 3 business days since the car will be in your possession to inspect/test it, and if something is wrong, you'll have the right to refuse it, for any reason! Like i said in my first email, the car is in mint condition! For that i sealed it, to be sure that will not appear over the night any scratches, dents and so on. Thanks

And yet another one. This guy did supply a VIN. Someone should try to put a name to that VIN.

I doubt I'll hear from him again after my last comment. Here it is:

Hello,
I apologize for the delay, I'm in the military and that's why I couldn't reply in time. I would have rather called you, but I don't have access to a phone due to my current location, so we will communicate through e-mails.
I still have the car for sale and i am ready to let it go for $7500. The car is in great condition, exactly as you see in the pictures. No mechanical problems, no leaks, no rust, everything is in very good order. Title is clean and clear, no accidents. I have to sell this car as fast as I can because in three weeks I will be in Afghanistan and I think I'll stay there for a while, that's why I'm selling it so cheap. Currently I'm in a military base in Colorado and the car is here with me. I can ship for free within US if you want to buy it. I will appreciate if you let me know your decision as soon as possible, i must sell the car before my deployment.
I can send you more pictures and details if you are interested.
VIN #:WP0JB0925KS860289

Thank you.

Hello,
As I told you in my previous e-mail at this moment I am in Colorado getting ready for Afghanistan, and I have the car with me.
This mean that I do a special training program. I am not allowed to get out of the unit or give calls whenever I want.
I can ship the car to you without problems. I can do it at no cost for you. You will receive the car along with all the documents. As for the payment I can start a transaction through cars.com. All I need is your full name and address so i can contact them and after that they will contact you regarding this purchase. They act as a third party and will protect both of us in this transaction.
You will have 5 days inspection period on it . If the car have any problems or you do not like it a full refund will be done no questions ask.
If you will need extra time to inspect the car i can extend the inspection period at 10 days.
Durring the inspection period you can make any test you want and go to with the car at any mechanic you will want.
I am waiting your e-mail.

Thank you

My mechanic needs to inspect the car before any transaction can begin.

With all the web scams out there these days I'm sure you understand.

The bad English is a dead giveaway. "This mean that i do a special training program" "No cost for you"
"make any test you want". Plus it's all full of vagueries, no specific place in Colorado mentioned, no car idiosyncracies mentioned like for example "had problems with CE panel from clogged AC drain and had to be rewired" or something like that or "hatch release is touchy", nothing.

I'll give you up to 10 days after you don't receive the car to try to find me for a full refund. No questions asked because you won't be able to find me to ask them.
