Never seen a thread so full of woe.

So, what is the latest from the mechanic? Any news? If you need some "off Rennlist" help and want to do the cry for help more privately, please join up at 928.org. We don't bite, have all been where you are now to an extent and sarcasm and smart *** comments are rare.

Yes, you're right. Some Postings were unnecessary.

So the news are: Broken radiator cause the problem with oil mixing with coolant. So right now I'm looking for good used radiator.

That's great news, seems you've come off really lightly!

Brilliant news. Any other questions you or the mechanic have, post them up.

Since a pre-S4 radiator fits fine in a post-S4 928, the opposite should work, other than the lack of those plastic L-shaped tabs that hold the upper fan shroud. I'd guess there's a simple fix for that.

Any idea of the condition of the engine? You mentioned vibrations before it puked and that it wouldn't (or wasn't) accelerating.

Spend on a new one if you can afford it. They will last 10-20 years if treated right.

You can run it without an oil cooler if you loop the lines.....would be good to KNOW the engine runs O K ...You can get replacement plastic tanks and seals with or without holes for the heat exchanger so your old radiator could be put back together !! Locating a heat exchanger is hard..but as you mentioned an external air to oil could be fitted.

Err; anyway,
Seems like there's likely more than what meets the eye....; this car when sorted will give you many moments of joy, lots of folk here have taken beatings but keep going back for the joy.
Give it a good try.
Best.

That shouldn't be necessary.

I would put a radiator in it, then dump it. If you dont have a huge bank roll 928's can bankrupt you. Get a 911 a much better reliabilty and better on resale over the long haul. Just my 2 cents.

.....[/B]
BEFORE he buys a $1,500 radiator it would be good to KNOW the engine is O K ....the 1980-1984 USA cars never ran the heat exchangers for the engine oil so unless you are really using the 300 HP a lot the car can live quite well without it.
