The 911 quite simply is an ugly duckling that eventually evolved to be a "swan" but it was always a great car. As Greg observes, cosmetically the current 991 has more in common visually with the 928 than ever it does a 911 beetle.

I dare say there are some folks around who think Scarlett Johannsen is ugly but that does not make them right.

When I first saw the Cayenne announced I thought that it was urgly- I have one and still think it is ugly but less so- however what a ride!

When I first saw the 928 circa 1977 I thought it was an amazing looking car- 35 years later still do and what a ride! I believe it is only a question of time before I purchase a 911 turbo of some evolution- I have driven the latest [2013] Turbo S and it is an awesome performer. I can "visualise" one of these in my car port in about 3 years time and my visualisations usually come to pass.

No accounting for human tastes- probably just as well.

Regards

Fred

911 , compared to a 928, is a really fast and commonly appreciated wheelbarrow: with my 928 I can lose driving licence, with a wheel barrow you can also lose your life.
about the engne in the wrong lace, Enzo Ferrari said " never seen someone putting cart before the horses".

Performance is objective, appearance is subjective. There's nothing wrong with what they wrote if they truly think that and didn't mean it as an insult.

Why do people give two ****s about what others think? I thought peer pressure stopped in high school.

The complete text:

Porsche 928 Parts – Porsche 928 Spares

The Porsche 928 was born around the same time as the 924. It was again similar to the 924 and 944 something a little different from Porsche. The 928 was again front engined and rear wheel drive like the 924 and 944 but it was substantially larger and had a bruising V8 under the bonnet this along with the majority of them having an automatic gearbox. The 928 was a serious autobahn cruiser. It would simply eat up the miles on the motorway in comfort for the driver and passengers. Porsche did try and market the car as a 4 seater however the back seats are small and a child could fit in at best and if the driver is tall and needs his seat back there is little or no room in the back.

Parts for Porsche 928 – Used Porsche 928 Parts

There were a few facelifts of the 928 there was initially the 928S and then the 928S2 where minor tweaks were made mainly to the appearance such as subtle spoilers etc. But it was in the mid 80′s when the 928S4 was introduced. This had a much larger makeover and the car had a very modern feel at the time, many considered it before its time. The engine size was raised slightly and the performance tweaked up slightly and this made the Porsche 928 a popular choice with the long distance commuter who wanted comfort and speed. Many thought of the 928 as ugly, and really this cant be disagreed with however it more than made up for this with performance. Towards the end of production of the 928 the 928 GT came out this had the power output raised again and really proved to be a handful like the911. Not many of these were produced but the were great fun,

Odd comment..." really proved to be a handful like the911. .." I think the author has little to no real experience with or knowledge about 928s not that that keeps people from stating their opinions

I think the weird part is that they are supposedly trying to sell parts to 928 owners. It is an usual tactic they are employing.

I think that was misunersttood in that what was meant was what has already been mentioned in this thread in that opinions on taste cannot be argued with so in reality you can't really disagree.

I think. (-%
