Default New Product: Auxiliary Pusher Fan with Controller for 1986.5-95

We've had a couple customers who, for whatever reason, just cannot get enough air across their radiator to keep their temps where they want it on their late-model 928.

Usually this is because of the climate they live in, or the stop-and-go traffic, or because they are supercharged. It can even be all three.

I've taken a good 16" SPAL pusher fan and mated it with a electronic fan controller for them, and the results have been very good. Cars that had a regular "gauge is too hot" complaint are now back in line. They even report the AC is colder (which makes sense). My customer's cars are equipped with stock alternators and they report the draw is not excessive and the system voltage seems fine. No changes. Power for the fan and fan controller can come from the forward battery post.

NOT A SIMPLE BOLT-IN KIT Because your 1986.5-to-95 928 has never had a pusher fan in front of the radiator, you will have to move some things to make room for it. Expect that. If your car has the moveable radiator louvers, they and their electric motor will have to go. (You should take them out anyway whether you install a pusher fan or not).

Now that I have a few of these in the field and are comfortable with the results and have had no problems, I offer it now as a kit here:

Thanks for reading.

Very interesting and I am very interested.

Carl - could you encourage those who have used this as prototype customers to comment here?

We did this on an '88 5 speed and the results were fantastic. We put a temp sensor in the block drain plug so we can get accurate readings. On 100 degree days in traffic, the temp sat right at 185-190 steady, where beforehand the temps were 210-225. The A/C also stayed very cold while just sitting there.

Auto cars will need two smaller ones but I've not tried it yet.

The 86.5 does have a factory aux fan in the front.

I now think you are right. The Porsche PET shows it changed in 1987. The other documents I checked said 1986.5. Hmmm.

John, for 1978 to 1986.5 cars we offer a different aux fan upgrade. This one:

Sean, why do you say auto cars will need two small ones?

Assume adding this pusher takes some of the load off your aging OEM fans/controller?
