Have been enjoying the car the last month making her a semi daily driver along with the 996. Unfortunately the Atlanta weather is living up to its name so decided to tackle the non functional A/C this weekend. Ordered the Griffiths compressor nd barrier hoses along will all new vacuum pods from Roger. Yesterday and today got the new compressor nd hoses installed, New receiver/drier and all new o-rings throughout. Also was perfect time to do a ton of cleaning since the radiator and fans were out of the way. Many thanks to Kevin_in_Atlanta for the help nd use of his lift!

Progress continues, today replaced the vacuum pods behind center console as well as mixing flap also put new rubber insulation along flap for good seal. Also fixed center console mounting tabs and got all the wiring routed properly. Tomorrow will put everything back together and drop it off for a flush, since I have no idea when the A/C last worked, nd a charge.

Got everything put back together last night after work and dropped her off this morning for A/C system charge. Picked her up this afternoon and I now have A/C! Many thanks to Kevin_in_Atlanta for his lift and letting me borrow a car while I had mine apart in his garage. Also his knowledge of these cars was a great learning experience, not only are all the A/C components working great but he noticed many things, from previous owners, that weren't quite right on the car so while we were in there I was able to get them right. The 928 community is a great bunch people!

Default Blower Motor replacement

Well after getting the A/C working a couple weeks ago and actually being able to use it, the blower motor decided to give up the ghost. A big thanks to a thread by Richard S, https://rennlist.com/forums/928/465056-hvac-blower-removal-and-clean-up-cleaning-the-evaporator.html,
That detailed removal and cleaning of the evaporator so took care of that as well. Here is a pic with new resistor pack along with evaporator, you can definitely tell where I have cleaned.

After cleaning everything up I swapped out the motors with the replacement from Roger and also installed the Greg Brown wiring with relay. (great step by step directions Greg nd Roger!). Here is a pic of completed blower and the GB wiring.

I had already done the pin swap for the newer resistor pack connector as fan only ran on high during A/C upgrade so wiring didn't take long other than figuring out where to route everything. It took about 2-1/2 hrs all in.

everything works great and definitely more air flow with the new motor! I can now truly enjoy the A/C!

Default Cup Mirrors installed

Today decided to get the H4s and Cup mirrors installed. Big thanks to Kevin_in_Atlanta for assisting on taking apart the flag nd cup mirrors nd getting everything back together again!

Mirrors will get several coats of plasti-dip until the complete paint job this winter.

Got stopped last night because my license plate lights weren't on. Told the officer I was restoring the car nd had just taken her out for short drive. We talked about the car and he gave me a verbal warning nd a "really like the car"

I have known the lights don't work but it's on the low end of priorities. Anyway decided to take a look this morning and this is what I found.

Could this be why they don't work?

Well in preparation for the drive from ATL to 3rd Coast have done a couple upgrades the last few weeks. Got the refurbished calipers, stainless steel brake lines, nd brake system flush all done last weekend and this weekend put in LED dashlights. The brightness of the LEDs compared to the old lights is so much better! I can actually see my temp and voltage gauges at night now! Look forward to seeing everyone in less than a week!

Love a great 928 resto story. What reference's did you use when doing the work? Your start to finish times are phenomenal compared to mine. Beautiful car, am looking forward to seeing the finished work.
Also, what led's did you use. I need to redo my 87's as well.

Used several right ups from Dwayne, John Pritle, the Morehouse CDs and WSMs, but am lucky to have a couple 928 guys in Atlanta such as Kevin Berez "Kevin_in_Atlanta" and Bill Graff "Straycat" who have provided both advice and wrench turning when asked. I can't take all credit as Bill did the timing belt/WP, torque tube and suspension as my garage is limited space. I have taken on all the electrical and other smaller jobs like A/C, starter, power steering, interior (other than recovering of sport seats) etc. and will tackle the TB/WP and other things next time around.

I used superbright LEDs for the 3 main cluster lights, part #WLED-WHP5 and also bought smaller LEDS, part #B8.4xx for all warning lights but they are were a very loose fit and had trouble getting about 1/2 to light up. The incandescent lights work fine for that part, I just couldn't see the gauges, so left the incandescents in.

Just finished wiring up the Cup mirrors today so now have power mirrors for trip to 3rd coast!

Wow! Has been almost a year since last post on the 87! She has been running great and other than oil changes, really nothing has been done until last week. I replaced the O-ring on kick down cable as it had completely disintegrated to nothing and was leaking pretty good.

Today finally got around to installing pod I picked up at Frenzy along with steering wheel from Sharks in Hell.

Pod was in great shape with no cracks! Thanks Jerome!
