What brand tire do you run.

Running Continental DWS on my daily driver had them before they wear well, and perform good for a street tire.... the 928? well that narrows the choices quite a bit. I'm running KDW 2's but I have to buy all new rubber this year because the rears are shot and they are all getting old. not many choices out there for 335 30 18's....

Best street tires on the market at this time are Michelin Pilot Super Sports - if they are available in your size. I ran autocrosses with my '89 back to back over two days. First day was on Michelin PS2's. Second day on Super Sports. Night and day difference - Super Sports are far superior (and cheaper).
Have a set of Bridgestone RE11's on my '82 - 2nd best tire, but they get pretty "square" if you don't drive on them for a couple of days.
This assumes you're looking for a high performance tire. If you're looking for an econo squealer look elsewhere.

FWIW:
I just watched 'Motorweek' the other night and this is what they said about the Continental tires on the 2015 Mercedes C class:
'The biggest hindrance to our handling fun was our test car’s Continental ContiSport tires that didn’t seem up to the task of gripping what the chassis was capable of delivering. Because of that the C will probably lose every comparison it gets lumped into.'
Not sure if their test car had the stock 17x7's or the optional 18's.

I just put continentals on my 911sc and they feel terrible.
I do think the tyre shop eftt up the suggestion though -
Feels like the back keeps wobbling around. They were a recommendation and I regret ever listening to the opinion of the tyre shop. I am getting them changed asap !! I should have stuck to my guns and just replaced the same bridgestones that I loved so much . My 997 has Michelins on it and they are a good all rounder . Just my shout out to the community

I have Fuzion ZRis on my car. My backs are bald resulting in gratuitous spinning, and my fronts have about 70% of the tread still on them. Unfortunately, since the ZRi is no longer being made, I had to purchase a new set of Fuzion UHP (successor to the ZRi) for the rear, but in the smaller 245/45/17 size. The UHP has a higher treadwear rating than the ZRi so I'm looking for a little more life out of this next set. If they are crap too, I am ditching them for a set of Goodyear Eagle GTs or General G-Max.

My 928 is sporting Nexen N 3000 size 235 40 18 on the front
Bridgstone Potenza 285 30 18 on the rear
Tire were on my car when purchased 3 years ago. I have put approximately six thousand miles on them including a trip to SITM in N.C. and several other fairly long treks.
Seem to do well in wet weather and grip is good also. Will be replacing in another couple thousand miles, not sure which direction or brand I will go with. Consensuses appears to be Michelin, but I agree that most tires are pretty similar in quality especially when your talking about high performance applications.
