Default Hella replacement lamps are junk !!

Wondering if anyone else is having this same problem with the Hella kit that replaces the original sealed beam lamp with a housing and halogen bulb.

I bought two (2) of the HELLA 002395301 Vision Plus 176mm High/Low Beam 12V Halogen Conversion Headlamp from Amazon. Installed in my 1986 Porsche 928S US model and they lasted about three times of the lamp rotating up and down and the glass lens cracked. Ordered two (2) more and they did the same damn thing !!!

I don't think i got the worng housing, it was a direct fit. Anyone else have this experience? If not Hella, which part should I have bought intead?

thanks

I've been running the 7 inch H4 Hella's in my car for over 5 years now, I haven't had a single problem. Are you running higher watt bulbs?

These are the ones I've been using Hella HL79562 with H412 bulbs 100/55W.

I've got Hella's too. They have H-4 on them. Bought 'em from Summit.

No problems at all.

Huge improvement over the sealed beams.

I've used Hellas in a lot of cars (not the 928 because I sprang for 8" H4's). I've never had a problem and they were always a great improvement (except ~40 years ago when I started using them b/c I could no longer get Marchals - then they were noticeably not as good.)

Pics and links would help. There must be something different if it's just you.

Perhaps almost doubling the wattage of the bulbs might have something to do with the failures...

Another thumbs up for 7" Hella H4s. No problems since install 7 years ago with HIDs, soon to be LED.

Purchased many sets from here and I've used them in many cars, including the 928, with as high as 90/130W bulbs never had any issues.
