Crisp!! It just snaps into gear now. All the synchos were worn, some more than others, the tiny leaf spring was broken (as usual) but nothing else was amiss.

Knowing the two of you, you just got it done in time for a road trip (shake down cruise/test) to "Spring Fling" in April.

Nice job!

Just a great result- the striking thing to me is how much benefit there is to the porting work Greg did on the intake. We have similar pistons, heads, exhaust, cams, and tuning capabilities. And Jim's 5.9 makes the same peak hp as my 6.5 does, albeit 400-500 rpm later.

Jim's making 394 rwhp at 6000 rpm, my 6.5 with the stock S4 intake made 393 rwhp SAE at 5600 rpm:

Holy cow, dyno numbers are incredible. So my eyes are drawn to the cable quadrant - are those new clear silicone cable guide thingees? I'm imagining Greg making those by hand too.

^^^^^ +928!

Remember me? Guy in the wayback caravan position as we rock-and-rolled across Texas to OCIC in DFW? I'm still back there...

Congrats on the new ponies and the excellent work. Or, in response to Randy's question.... It's a ferry-tale come true!

Guessing that those are new cables. The lower outer cable has a fitting that is made for an accordian boot, but I've never actually seen one there. The white silicone wipers are deteriorated to orange or gone on virtually every S4+ I've looked at. Mine were yellowing a tad when I got the car, have only gotten darker with age and engine-bay heat. The hole in the middle needs to be "just right" to wipe the cable, needs to stretch over the cable end sleeves if retrofitting any replacements. Good News is that most silicone products seem to have enough "give" in them to go over the sleeve. There's gotta be a way to make new ones. [scratches head, wisp of smoke leaks out where hair used to grow...]
