Default Early 1986 throttle body

Hey fellow 928ers. I am elbow deep in a vale cover and intake refresh and hit a bit of a snag. I was attempting to reseal my throttle body last night and I could not remove one of the screws that hold the butterfly. It came out a few turns and stopped because the last threads are hanging up. I would take aggressive action with my Dremel tool but I want to make it to Hershey next month so I don’t want to go that route without a backup plan. I hate to be this far into the intake and not replace the throttle shaft o-rings.

My question is this; does anyone have a spare throttle body that they will part with cheap? My car is an early 1986 S3, 32V (5 speed, if it matters?)

Please PM me if you can help and thanks in advance.

You can get '85-'86.5 throttle bodies as they are all the same, although a lot of the used spares got used up during the Keel Supercharger days as the S4's that ran that system had to retrofit to the '85-'86.5 for the system to work.

lots of throttle bodies the screws for the buttery fly are peened out just to insure that they do not back out and get eaten by the engine..

I have an 86.5 TB that I won't be using for a while.

You can try to rebuild mine, and send me your original one back, I can deal with the screw later.
You pay for shipping...PM me.

Thanks for the offer of your spare TB. But I would prefer to get another outright. That way I am not on the hook to get you one back. I have a few weeks before the intake parts are back from the finisher so I will keep looking.

Thanks all for the reply

screw the screw back in and grind off the rear of the threads where its peened,
then unscrew it.

when refitting make sure the throttle plate is centered and turns free,
then install the screw with green loctite and peen it

Thanks Mrmerlin, I am familiar with the process but I don't want to break out the Dermel tool unless I have some spare parts. I have run into this before and fear I may need a replacement screw or worse. I want to make it to Hershey so I don't want to risk trying to extract the screw without a backup.

Thanks to all for your replies. Hope to see some of you at Hershey.
