Looks like a keeper. Based on the tach and the option codes, you have the S4, non-GT. But - the good news is you do have LSD diff.

Now is a good time to warn you about blasting and powder coating the intake. There have been at least a dozen cases where an owner went this route and destroyed the engine with sand media left behind in the intake. It's a very convoluted shape, and sand can hide in many different little pockets after blasting.
Use extreme caution if you go this route. I would advise to seal all the intake areas very well, and after it's done to clean it many times with vacuum, water, air blast, vacuum and water again. Once the engine is run, and ingests the sand, that's the end of it, and we don't need another case.

Trying to talk Donny into preparing intake manifolds and cam covers for the 928 community.
Welcome Donny!

Are you saying I'm superfluous? I need my organ pipes intake done, so I get to go first.

Nah, the window is fine, just went down a few inches, and won't return up, so, I put some crash tape wrap on it until I can tend to it and sort it out. The inner mechanisms are pretty dry and never have been serviced ie lubricated.
I do not do Sand Blasting, I use ground up Dominos as the blasting media. I would think there is not much of a need to blast the internal tubing of the Intake manifold, just the outside, but, let me get into mine first and 'learn' about it and this car.
It's sad that since this car arrived in Texas, the owners here just let it go...sad!
Set to blast all this, and re-assemble
Very smart engineering here.
Pulled the gas tank, and this bracket has seen better days.
All media blasted and in Epoxy primer.

I can't get over the fact that over the past 6 weeks of copious reading on this very forum, there is a member her that has over 1 million posts since 2001! That's over 200 a day! How this is possible is insane! It has to be an error, or, an amazing source of information!
Cheers!

Intake, Cam Covers, almost all the underpinnings of the car chassis have been and are being media blasted, and will be completed by early Feb 2017. Body has come off the Drivetrain, which was sitting on the Dolly I built. The Block is junk, #1 has a huge crack, I have been looking for a replacement engine/block, Roger and Greg have options, just need to touch base on that deal. The Intake, honestly I can't see how owners left media inside of them unless they didn't remove the side covers from the S4 Intake? If they failed to do that, then absolutely there is NO way to remove it all. I don't know if other year S4 models have different Intakes. I know mine has the removable covers on the sides.

You can contact Mark Anderson @ 928 international as he has a few S4 engines laying about. He specializes in used parts, a very good contact to have. He's just down the street from Greg if you ever make it out to Los Angeles.
Most of the issues with powder coating the intake are from the blast media getting stuck behind the flares of the ends of the runners behind the 2 removable side plates.
Most people just didn't clean it enough after the got it back and reinstalled it only to have a few grains of blast media scratch the life out of the cylinder walls.
You really need to wash it and wash it, and when you think it is clean, wash it 2 more times just to be sure.
I'm sure after all is said and done you will have a fantastic 89 to enjoy.
