I had the pleasure of driving one of RKD's modded Turbos. Talk about a rocket! Once the turbo got on boost, it felt like you were being propelled by a slingshot - just a long seamless incredibly smooth rush.

In addition to his fine observations, one of the bigger differences between the two models is the 944 feels like it has more weight transfer - throttle and braking inputs have a much more pronounced effect IMHO.

As my sig says, I have an '88 & '89 928, and an '89 944S2.

The two models are actually quite similar in performance from a standing start, although very different in driving character once underway, with the 944 feeling much lighter and more nimble even though it is the porky 3 litre.

Once into the higher speed ranges (where I have NEVER been, since that would be illegal) the 928 is much more relaxed where the 944 feels stressed.

In essence, for twisty road apex hunting I take the 944 - for long distances & relaxed cruising, I take the 928.

1990 944/952 Turbo
1990 928S4 Auto

944 Turbo is a true sports car which i use for Super Sprints and Motorkhanas great fun.
928 is a GT cruiser, much more comfortable for long trips.

Cost of maintenance: I do all my own maintenance, so cost of part is the only outlay. When parts are need I search the web world wide and suppliers locally.

Some day I'm gonna put a 928 engine in my 924. Until then, I'll continue to enjoy both just the way they are.
