The Stop Light warning on my dash actually works...it came on and it was because the brake light really was burned out. So, I got a bulb and went to replace it. Now, on the '86.5, I should just unscrew the four Philips head screws, pop the lens off and replace the bulb, right?

The first odd thing I noticed...there are zero screws on my DS tail light lens, just empty holes (the PS side has all four screws). So what's holding it on? Because something is...I'm leery of prying too hard, but it's not giving any indication that it's ready to come off soon. Is there some sort of tab that I need to wiggle out?

Please tell me someone didn't glue it because they lost the four bloody screws...

My first guess was "glue" as i was reading your post.

They (the lenses) do push in there and may stay in place w/o screws (never tried
However see if you can get a small "L" shaped tool and grab the inside of the Plastic Lens via the Screw holes and see if it will move a bit.

Hopefully it's wasn't put in w/ sealant or glue

I did that, couldn't budge it. It did look like the bottom edge had separated from the rest of the housing, so I put the tool in there and pried a bit, but I wanted to make absolutely sure that there weren't some hidden tabs or screws I needed to worry about.

At this point, I'm thinking glue. Dammit So if I break the lens assembly getting it out, I'm guessing used replacements are available...are they ridiculously expensive? I'll have to check with 928 Intl before I attack this thing with too much force lol...

Nah..theyre not so pricey to get...now..if the base that the lens screws to is hosed...

You have to pull the bumper to replace it. Which IMHO, was a ****show of poor planning on Porsche's part.

It's possible the screw holes are stripped, and that's why they went with glue. Which will suck. We shall see.
