Car wont run with FULL Beam on!!
Hi
I have a 1982 Euro 928S Manual 5 Speed.
Car has been running quite well recently but noiw its god a crazy problem.
I can drive at night but if I turn on the Main Beam for the headlights the engine stops dead, as soon as I turn them off the car will run fine
Can someone please let me know where tghis could be coming from,
Any help appreciated
BTW all fuses and relays are fine, contact clean Earths OK

Not yet but I am working on it.
Wht cant my 928 have normal problems.
I was out on Saturday Night, on the way back in an unlit area, turned on the main beam and the car cut out and stopped. - Totally bizarre.

Ufo'er!
You have to search, most properly you have a short-cut in one of the wires up to the lamp, when not driving no short cut, but when driving (vibrations) you have the short-cut
Remove the cover in front of the front wheels and check the wires carefully, and you will 'get the answer'

Hi Eric
What I do not understand is why this stops the engine, the lights work both running and stattionary, the car always cuts out when you either turn on the full beam or flash the fiull beam, it doesnt matter if the car is moving.

Jack,
This sounds like one of the following:
Earth Ground issue in the front of the car
Corroded ground wire to coil
weak connections at coil.
All this indicates to a very poor electrical connection somewhere that is load dependent. This is not a short circuit, but an open circuit driven by electrical high load.......... Probably where they share an earth ground
