Default Fixed the AC the easy way.

Gotta share when luck strikes to make up for the unlucky times. The AC on the 86.5 auto with 49K miles stopped cooling about two months ago in the West TX heat. I kept driving and sweating too busy to get to it. I found Dwayne's write up and liked the picture step by step. http://dwaynesgarage.norcal928.org/1...0Procedure.htm

So I saved it to my favorites and read it many times while at work, dreaming of finding time to go through it with the 928 some day. Then yesterday I saw Jerry's cowl cover thread and thought I should buy it just in case it becomes a limited run as many things do. I thought I'd wonder outside and peek at it since I couldn't remember the status of mine or if I had the bottle to specify the order. I thought I might as well peek at the vacuum line on the brake booster and visualize the starting point for the AC repair while the hood was open. That first picture in the write up was burned into my mind. Unbelievable! The vacuum line that feeds the HVAC was disconnected. Took me all of 5 seconds to stick it back on. I started the car immediately and enjoyed cold AC. It was a great commute home! I suppose we can fix anything if we just start the process step by step. Maybe you only have to go to step one, maybe step 200 but we'll get there if we start with step one!

Now I just need to replace all the original fluid lines before my luck runs out!

Congrats! The exact thing happened to me. That was the last easy fix I have ever had.
Good luck,
Dave

At least you didn't say..."and only"...lol.

Yep, finding the issue on the first diagnostic step is always a joy. Congrats, on the simple repair job.

Brian.
