Default VCB supercharger kit Intercooler to MAF clamps!

Hey all. I'm rebuilding an S4 engine for a buddy (MJrocket on here) and sorting out a few kinks at the same time. The VCB stage 2 supercharger kit had no provisions from what I can tell to hold the intercooler down to the MAF. Also, the aluminum MAF into the intercooler has no seal, and a bit of clearance, so I'm sure it's losing a bit of boost through the gap...not to mention if the intercooler raises up. I realize it's before the meter so the tune wouldn't be affected, but it's still a loss of boost = less fun! FYI 14psi boost at that surface area equals about 100lbs of force or just over trying to separate the connection.

I designed this clamp that, uh, clamps to the bottom of the intercooler and holds the MAF to it so they can't separate. I also modified the MAF on a lathe to hold a thin Viton oring. The clamp in the pictures has the wrong screws (from my turbo project) currently, but I plan to order the correct ones from McMaster. They will still be stainless 5mm button heads. The prototype is 7075 on the base and the "ears" are 6061, mostly because it was convenient. In the future both pieces will likely be 6061. I don't think this application justifies 7075. This intercooler is powdercoated, but I think it will clamp fine on one that isn't, or I can change the file for a tiny bit more end clearance between the halves, but I like them being close so the clamps can't twist around as easily.

If I get much serious interest then I'll have a small run of these made. If I get enough I can have them anodized, but they'll all have to be the same color. It's on the underside and not really visible, so probably black...maybe gold? IDK

Pricing will be $150-175 per clamp, probably $175-200 anodized (will have to check). Any interest?

This is from my car, I must say im Extremely Impressed with the Design and Functionality of this clamp.

I'd Highly recommend it to anyone running a Stage II VCB kit. This is a night and day diffrence between what was provided with the kit originally. Mine was held on with mere wire, and as Evan mentioned above their was no seal between the lip of the MAF and IC itself...Totally unacceptable from a Performance standpoint.

In my opinion a Must Have!

Just curious, but whatever happened to Victor and his supercharger kits? I haven't heard anything about him for quite a while.

That looks great and could come in quite useful.

Victor is still around and trying to keep up with demand on his kits. I installed another one a few weeks back.

What Rocks even more is having access to the Great Mind that came up with the design on this and all the other goodies going into the new build.

Very exciting times my friend.

I am intersted. I also thought the wire was not the best solution. When do you think production will be run?

Thanks for the comments. I'm not sure when I plan to run...kinda waiting on interest. I'd like to run at least four if I can. If you don't have all the equipment you need, it's just as good having friends that do haha. The minimum I can push through is two or the cost is too high. It would likely take around a dozen to make anodizing practical.
