I have offered to a couple of guys in Canada to separate their Gas caps here and replace the pawl for $45 US including return mailing. That offer is good for any other Canadians. For the USA this same service is $40. I'm not sure yet about other countries since I don't know what first class mail might be. I suspect more than Canada, so I think it is going to be $50 US for this service elsewhere.

The Pawls are still available by themselves, (mailed with a tiny tube of grease) for $30 mailed to domestic locations and $35 mailed out of the USA. Again, the cost for out of the USA to countries other than Canada may later be increased to more than $35 if the mailing is more than the $9.50 it costs to Canada. In the meantime I'll eat whatever else it might be.

I am trying to bring this whole project back to life. Now the Pawl is still $30 shipped domestically and the fix-the-cap-and-return is $65. You ship me the cap and I'll take it apart and replace the Pawl then return it apart so you can do whatever to rekey it if needed and then press it back together. Or send me $30 and I'll mail you a new Pawl.

Got the infamous pawls on Saturday. Got the cap apart using plastic trim panel tools from our friends at HF. That pawl is one fine engineered piece. Spring fit perfect and the pawl fit exact, on play and has to go straight in.
only problem I had was I couldn’t get the thing to seat. Pulled out, put some graphite in there, and still wouldn’t seat. Took a break, had a hot dog, and got back to it. Found out the piece that breaks off was still in there and matched up with lock so never saw it. Dohhh. Anyway pulled it out, slid the pawl in and the thing works like those German over designers intended. Now can put some fuel in and forget I need the key to do that.

Great part, now just need your Super Damper!

Thanks Joe, for the super report. Glad it is what it ought to be. What is the Super Damper? Sounds like something I ought to be working on, but . . . .

Thanks Matt, for the order. I tried to call to make sure you have the later long snout cap. My Pawl doesn't fit the earlier short snout cap
