87 S4 - Steering wheel stitching
I decided to test my sewing skills and start re- stitching my steering wheel. Previously the thread was grey on my grey-green steering wheel, but I figure I would try to use a linen colored thread to match my seats. What do you guys think of the color?

Don, I'm game.
Added some more stitching on the right side. Tomorrow, I plan to get a smaller 27mm socket to take off the wheel. I would imagine this is easier on the couch.

What thread precisely and where did you source it? And the same questions for tools, needles and tightening technique(s).
I've been known to use thick, waxed dental floss.
Thanks

Thanks guys.
I went to JoAnn's and bought polyester upholstery thread, dull tapestry needles and beeswax. The thread was a bit thin, so I doubled up and coated the thread with Beeswax.

Superock, i love my Pioneer, all the modern amenities and I don't think it looks too out of place. I use the amber colors on the unit, as most of the other colors look obnoxious.

Good job. For those who are interested, I found this video helpful when I redid a couple of wheels:
The thread size seem to differ between years and/or colours. My black interior '88 had finer thread than my burgundy '90. In the case of the '90 I sourced 3/4mm burgundy thread from a UK supplier via eBay.

Pioneer MVH-X580BS...$100 at that large online stereo place that starts with a "C" and ends in a "field".
Here are some better pics of it and the mic installed. Gotta have hands free calling.
