So upset with myself... lost a part. Can anyone help?
I took apart the driver's side door a few weeks ago to replace the outer scraper seal and paint the trim. Got the job done and started to put it together again, and I cannot find the INNER window seal for the life of me... I've looked everywhere. Sure enough, this stupid part is $280 new. F*&K. Sick to my stomach. Completely ruined my day. I've torn apart the whole garage looking for this stupid window seal.
This is a part that's common to nearly EVERY 928... so I'm reaching out to the community for help. Can anyone sell me one of these at a reasonable price? Does anyone have this on a parts car? Please let me know.
Here's the part, circled in red. It just pops into some cadmium plated retainer clips:

I have searched eBay... The part number isn't listed except for new and the term "scraper seal" or "weatherstrip" just had a bunch of generic parts. No luck. I was going to reach out to the dismantlers (LA Auto, etc) but wanted to try here first.
Someone must have a parts car where this rubber strip would otherwise be trashed... There's no reason for it to go bad, or for someone to need one, besides it being gone/lost in the first place. Sigh...
I'm always careful with my parts, label things, have a designated area, etc...
It's not in the door. At this point, I'm wondering if I accidentally threw it away with the old outer scraper seal. That's the only explanation that makes sense. I'm pretty upset with myself. Ugh...

Sorry about the part that ran away. That sucks.
I'm trying to see if I can find a less expensive option for you.

a few places I found say it is a dealer order item. Above link states $190. Not cheap but a little less that the other quote you mentioned....

You are in Dallas, there must be many junkyards available to go find the item?

G'day, if you get stuck, there are a few parts cars downunder at the moment, I could ask for the part you require, and ship it over to you.
Last resort I guess, but should still be way cheaper than new part if you decide to go that way.

Any idea what the shipping charge from NZ to the US? (Obviously avoiding UPS.... with their malicious broker fees...etc) ... especially how they mail out "extra invoices 8 months later..

I've never heard of a 928 in a regular parts yard... And I feel like Australia New Zeland is getting extreme distance for a common part... The search continues. If nobody has a parts car with this trim piece, I'll look to the common dismantlers.
