3 major batter manufacturers in the USA:
-Johnson Controls (more than a dozen plants in the USA)
-East Penn
-Exide

Johnson Controls is by far the largest. They sell their batteries to places like O'Reilly, Walmart, AutoZone, etc. and the retailer puts their own labels on them, except for the Optima line. Johnson Controls also makes Interstate Batteries.

Batteries in hot climates (Florida, Arizona, etc.) will last about 2 years. The heat destroys batteries. It's not uncommon for batteries in northern climates to last 5 years or more.

I picked up an Interstate Battery at Costco last month for about $125. It was the cheapest option I could find. Batteries and batteries when comparing smae size and specs; therefore, price is my main decision maker.

Every once in a while Advanced out has a $40 off $100 online, but their battery prices has jumped to 175ish. The days of sub $100 batteries I think are over. Walmarts typically have very competitive prices. Wouldn't pay Sear premiums for longer warranties anymore because they are likely to be bankrupt soon.

What is the Costco SKU of the one you bought?

Since its likely your battery will die while still under some part of the warranty (more so if you live somewhere hot). Then the warranty terms and 'enforce-ability' are important considerations. No good having a great warranty if there are no places to service it nearby where you are stranded.

Look for good coverage wherever you will be (nationwide would be best), so big national chains like Walmart and Costco do have their advantages...

This does make a difference.
Price is usually right, and if your out of your town you will likely have Walmart make it right within 2 days (if they have to order it). If still warrantied, is kind of like having a Craftsman tool go down in the old days - just bring it in.
Unless you buy some special type of high end expensive battery, a battery is just a battery. They're basically all the same. Availability (I outfitted my box for an H8), warranty servicing, and price are things to consider. I've had my H8 Walmart Everlast for almost 4 years now, and not a hiccup in it's function.
