Default GoPro Remote Cable

A flagman at VIR has invented a start/stop cable that plugs into the back of a GoPro camera and allows you to control the camera with a single click. It's what so many of us have been looking for, as a way to start the camera once we're on track...and not have to burn up memory waiting on the grid with the camera rolling.

I tried it out over the weekend, and it works perfectly. It's a simple plug and go. I even mounted the start button permanently on my center console. He has cable lengths from 3' to 8' and can make up special orders. I have nothing to do with his enterprise. I just wanted to alert RennListers.

Thanks.

...not to mention the impossibility to hit Start on the roll bar mount when strapped in.

They're great. Tony's terrific. Make sure you have the latest firmware update and it's smooth sailing.

The only downside is you have to cut/drill an opening in the back door to get the cable into the camera plug. I had a spare solid-back door, and it took me about 10 minutes with a hand drill to rout out the necessary opening. Easy peasy.

Tony says GoPro won't sell him extra doors, so you pretty much have to modify one of your own.

Not too much trouble, and now the remotes have an LED included to indicate status of the GoPro!

Thumbs up

I love Tony's GoPro remote power button and LED for the GoPro. He added the LED at my request..

The LED is powered by the camera so its a positive indicator that you have powered up the camera (or off)

Tony did a great job with this. Can't say enough good things about it. Great...

Tony is in the process of swapping out my first gen stock with 2nd gen. This will allow use with the GoPro Hero HD 2 and includes the LED.

Here's a pic of the first gen cables. $60 plus postage, FOB NC

The GoPro WiFi remote is much bigger and expensive. And, I don't want more RF signals in my car.. I like the small buttons with the wired remote.

Here is a demo of the GoPro remote with LED in action. The LED is really useful. The LED is by design just bright enough so you can see that its on and not so bright that its distracting while driving.

Tony also makes a dual camera switch that will power up TWO GoPro's at once..

I had an extra skeleton case so I could cut the hole for the plug. Took me 30 seconds to do with a Dremel tool. No big deal.
