Default Lighting issue -tail light, side marker not working

Help! Any idea what’s going on?

my passenger side side markers, tail light are not working. Driver side turns on but passenger side is off.

fuse 41 keeps blowing out. I took out both side markers and tail lights and made sure all terminals are connected and bulbs are good.

I only see 2 grounds - one at tail light and one in the front driver side. Both are cleaned.

Also, my driver side fog light is off and under hood light is off.

I can't speak well to the side markers, except to just clean every single ground connection you can find because you never know when something seemingly unrelated will have an adverse effect. Check the grounds near each headlight: they're buried down on the main frame rail on each side, and each has a good number of connections. The one on the passenger's side is really hard to see, but it should be just barely visible under the headlight motor in a position similar to the driver's side. Googling "944 ground points" brings up a fair number of good results, so there should be something helpful in your specific situation there. The under-hood light is apparently connected to the left side marker circuit, so that should clear up once you've got the other stuff figured out. Easy peasy..............

Here's a thread that might help: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...iver-side.html

You need to start tracing the power wire. You are blowing fuses = short somewhere,

Thanks. I found the passenger side ground (only 1 wire though). No difference after cleaning that.

i have all the fog lights, side markers, tail lights inspected. Wiring is all corrected but still blowing fuse 41 for passenger side.

When I step on the brake, there is no brake light even with key in on position. Hazard lights work

i wonder if the head light switch is the problem. I didn’t think so.

The hazard works on all corners, including the signals and taillights. So, I am leaning towards a head light switch failure. It is not a common failure though.

Under braking, tail lights do work now. 3rd brake light is off though

One parking light is not getting power. Using a circuit tracer, the harness appears to hv connectivity back to fuse box. Any idea why power is not going to that light?

So the harness has power....but the light doesn't? Is there an invisible break in the wire somewhere just upstream of the light? I assume you tested the contacts for the light using a meter, which told you it's not getting power. Correct?

The harness is not getting power but the wiring detector is not finding a break.

There is is a short somewhere and I was hoping the wiring detector would pin point where.

i tested the harness itself. No power.

Ah, I misunderstood...

You said the harness has connectivity to the fuse box. Is the particular fuse getting power? It's a pain in the butt to check, but maybe there's a broken/dirty/corroded connection on the back of the fuse box

The fuse blows when I turn on the parking light. With parking light off, the fuse is tested fine so I think there is power.

i pulled the fuse box up and don’t see any loose or burnt wires

Using the wire tracing tool, the left and right sides behave the same way. But only one side lights up.

i plan to send the car car to a shop.

That's a weird issue indeed; I have to agree that someone else should look at it. Definitely update this thread once you've got it sorted out!

The shop added a new power harness and that fixed the issue. It think I had a short when the bumper cover was repainted.

Thank you, I got it fixed, mine was pretty stupid really. I had the front side markers off, and I put the wires in a plastic bag so they wouldn’t get wet. And when the wires touched, it was short and blow the fuse.
