Question Threaded rod under dash

Poking around under the dash of my 1985.5 944, I see this threaded rod hanging loose:

Can anyone ID it for me? Is it related to the ventilation system? Thanks!

Tough angle to tell which rod it is, but definitely part of the ventilation system.

Check Clark's Garage's HVAC page.

If you still can't figure it out, I have my dash out and can check on Wednesday.

That's definitely one of the rods to the HVAC system. There are little plastic clips that are well known to break. The good news is, they're cheap. The bad news (it was for me) is that getting under there and working sucks.

I don't have the link handy but if you google something like "944 blows hot air constantly" you'll find a bunch of threads that talk about this issue. It's an easy fix if you have all the covers off, as it appears you do.

Edited to add: I googled and the first 2 links are to other sites (I also used them and can recommend the pictures and process) but here's a RL link: https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...r-blowing.html

Cheers

Brilliant - that looks like it - the offending rod is in the first photo on that thread. Thanks!
