Aftermarket alarm system removal advice needed.
Hi fellow members, I have a 944 that's been sitting for 12 years and it has some problems, i found out it has some sort of old alarm system, it's been wired into the electrical system of the car but it probably doesn't work and it's in the way.How would i go about removing all the wires?I ask this because i'm worried some wires are connected to the factory wiring and if i remove them those cables will be loose and i won't have any idea where they should come from.
i should add if you look the name up it doesn't show any documentation from the unit because it's probably too old.
I hope anyone has some advice!
Thanks in advance!
This is the cover with the name on it

I like the advice from 931guru to remove one wire at a time to see if the car still runs. Does your car start and run?

I would trace every wire coming out of that box and remove them from whatever wire(s) they may be spliced to.
If any factory wires were fully cut and not spliced, you would want to reconnect those with guidance from the factory wiring diagrams by identifying the cut wire (where does it lead to?) and color and reconnecting if possible.
Thats how I would approach it. Will require a lot of studying the wiring diagrams.

I agree with wallfreydo. Take it one at a time. I recently removed a “Rattler 3000” from a turbo. The only factory wire that was actually cut was the heavy gauge fuel pump wire from the DME relay under the fuse box. Reconnected those and carefully removed all others, starting the car several times. In the end the “Rattler 3000” was free and in the trash!
