Instrumentation panel went bad
Took the instrumentation panel to fix the odometer gear. When putting the cluster back into the dash, none of the needles move, there is no light except the left.
i wonder if one of the 3 connectors can loose.
also, the speedometer needle broke. I used a straw to epoxy it together but needle doesn’t automatically return to 0mph.
should I get a new instrumentation panel?

Three Wheelin'
do the 3 connectors to the back of the instrument panel seat properly and held in firm with the clamps?

Update: Bought a new cluster from 92 968 and swapped it into my 90 944. Here are some pointers for anyone with a broken odometer reading this:
1. If it's just the odometer, I'd not fix it. Changing the gear requires disassembling the speedometer and odometer. It's very easy to break the speedo needle.
2. It's not too hard to modify the odometer to match your actual mileage. There is a pin that has gears which can be pushed out / loosen to roll the odometer
3. Change the three instrument light from 2W to 3W. Or use LED instead. LED will only work in a particular polarity. So you may want to check before putting the cluster into the dash
4. disconnect battery until the pod is reinstalled. otherwise, you get airbag light which can be very hard to disable. on 90-92, you may need a hammer tool to disable airbag. i just took out the bulb for seat belt, center warning light "!" and airbag as they are useless
5. you do not need to remove the steering wheel to pull the pod in / out. but it will make it easier.
6. 968 pod has a 180mph instead of 160mph but they are compatible.
7. 968 has improved odometer gears, less prone to falling apart.
8. If you use a replacement pod, do not take the speedometer and odometer apart. Once speedometer needle breaks, the unit cannot be fixed / glued back.
9. Older 944 pod has mpg which won't be active used on later 944 that doesn't have it.
10 Pick a clean pod without faded needle and face marking.
All in, i paid hundreds for a clean new pod. Tried buying a cheap pod but that odometer was broken. Like I said, I probably would have been better off just leaving the broken odometer alone. It's not worth fixing
