Default Can I remove the filter without oil spilling out?

Can I remove the oil filter without lots of oil spilling out if the car is filled with oil? It appears that the filter is pointed up and that I could remove the filter with oil in the car.

Thanks in advance.

take a long screwdriver, center it on the filter top, and hammer it in. this lets air in which pushes oil out and drains it.

obviously you need to replace the filter at this point. but it will be not more than some drips.

The filter should have an antidrainback valve. I never have more than a few drops come out and I run the engine for a min before doing my changes

My buddy made me this tool that is a copy of that the dealership had back in the day. It's a about a ft long and has a half circle cut at the top that contours the oil with a trough that goes down where you can catch the oil. It's super cool. Let me know if you want a photo.
