Just sold a 1966 Alfa Duetto today and I am looking at an 88 944 Turbo for 4k cash. The car does have close to 200k on her and I have restored and worked on many different Auto's and just wondering just what I am in for with this 944.
The owner of the car has a convertible as well as this HB model. He is very anal about his cars, so I know the 88 has been kept up very well. No leaks, everything works from the sunroof to the AC. She looks new and has been garaged. One beautiful car and I would love to make her mine. This would not be a everyday driver at all. Last edited by BryO; 11-24-2009 at 05:57 PM. |

high on the miles but for a 951 with everything working... 4k thats it?
Good questions to ask are when the timing belt was last done, water pump, clutch and then just take her for a drive and see how she runs. Timing belt is not hard to do, neither is the pump, but clutch is a lot of work. Regardless, take a look/repost this in the 924/44/68 section under Water Cooled, not many people look under the 944/S2 section. Welcome! |

I happen to look here just now. If the car is in pretty good shape and the big things have been done go for it. I'd add it would be good if you like and can do your own work, that helps. And if it's not a DD so much the better.
Oh yeah and expect things to take longer than you expect and never, never be in a hurry when you work on it! I'd think about changing the rod bearings, I am gonna do mine and it's at 150,000 miles. |
