Default 1990 944 Turbo for sale in USA

No affiliation. Here's something you don't see every day. A 1990 951 for sale in the United States.

https://sandiego.craigslist.org/csd/...253087797.html

The seller says there were only 10 of these sold in North America, which is pretty close as far as I know. However, I thought the 1990 model year cars were only sold in Canada?

Does not appear to be an M030 car, since it has Design 90 wheels instead of Club Sports. I do like the look of the hatch spoiler, though!

Default Cool find

Thanks for sharing. What would the other differences on the 1990 be from 1989? (spoiler... etc)

The spoiler is all, as far as I'm aware. Otherwise, it should have standard (non-M030) brakes and suspension. Limited-slip differential may or may not be there.

The engine bay visually indicates a 247hp engine, however, based on the intake.

It probably has cast connecting rods too.

Option code sticker. Has the 247hp engine and limited-slip differential, but no 030 - as expected.

Originally a Canadian car, too. Nice example. If it had 030, he might be able to get that asking price.

very nice, educate me on M030: I have it my '89, so why not on the '90? Buyer's choice?
Thanks

It was no longer standard equipment for the very few model year 1990 cars that were sold in Canada. They were never offered for sale in the United States and followed the RoW spec, which did not include 030 by default.

thanks, I'd say this particular car is asking a "big" price, yes it appears to be in good shape, not modded, rare in the sense that 1990 was last year, but I'd like to have the M030

For the 90 & 91 model year the M030 equipment only included the Koni shocks as used on the 88 turbo S and & 89 turbo.
The cast 7.5" and 9" D90 wheels are standard, and the rear sway bar is 16mm instead of 18mm.
As for the rest, a 90 or 91 will be mechanically 100% identical to an 88 turbo S or 89, and feature ABS, AOR trans, air con, "medium black" front brakes, etc.

Thom, are you sure about the Koni shocks, brakes etc? The upper strut mounts on that 1990 car don't indicate they are adjustable, as they were on my old '88 Turbo S...

and my current '89 Turbo:

Not sure I understand what you are saying, but that red 1990 does not have M030 as in it does not feature the corresponding Koni yellows that you had on your S and your 89. The "**** nipples" on strut mount caps are always used with the koni yellows of the M030 equipment.
