Default Voltage reg replacement, why is this alternator in my car

Pulled this off a 87 944 turbo motor that’s charging up to 16 volts, couldn’t find the voltage regulator. Seems to be the wrong alternator, help.

Once upon a time i noticed a 90s V6 Camaro alt had the same mount spacing as the 944...so there might be others !

Probably because there are better alternators out there. To paraphrase the six million dollar man...Gentleman, we can replace it. We have the technology. We can make it stronger, smaller, lighter, and cheaper...

Delco is not GM. That would be similar to saying Bosch is Porsche. It is a manufacturer of many parts for many carmakers and they have an enormous aftermarket supply chain.
