Name that part that just fell out of my car
I'm looking for some guidance from the 951 guru's. After a winter of
1) Timing belt - all rollers, cams water pump, accessory belts
2) Spark plugs, wires, distributor rotor
3) Brake rotors, pads and parking brake
4) New CLUTCH kit including upgraded clutch fork
5) header removal / crack repair and reinstall
I took the 1987 - 951 for it's first real run since purchase 1 year ago.
and at low speed ( 1st gear) going up the hill out of my residential area I hear a crack and then see a part on the road in the rear view mirror. Grab the part and head back home but now, what the heck fell out?
It is a cylinder 25 mm (1 inch) long and 18 mm diameter (45/64 " with a 7.8 mm ( 5/16 ") hole in the middle - one side has a slight taper from the base into the centre hole - the other side does not and cylinder has a slit running lengthwise.
It seems like a metal bushing with external wear marks.
Any thoughts on where this piece belongs?
Rich

Either a power steering pump or alternator mount bushing.

Thats exactly what I did for the front bushing which I discovered was missing as well, but not recovered. Should be fine until the correct part arrives....and much easier to install.😁😃
