What have I done?
Yesterday morning at 7am, before work, I always pop on Facebook and check around on the classifieds. Well, I happened upon a 1981 Porsche 924 for sale, and it's quite crap, it's been sitting in the weeds. But, behind it I see the *** end of a 944, and it looks like a turbo.. I read the ad's description and there's a mention of a 944 being for sale as well. I check the seller's profile, and sure enough...
I found a 1987 944 Turbo for sale, with many parts missing off of it, but curiosity got the best of this cat. I got a phone number from the seller and rang him, minus the hiccup of giving me the incorrect phone number the first time around, I scheduled to meet him the next morning before work.
Considering I'm making this thread, I'm sure you can surmise what's happened.
As luck would have it, I hope this is a blessing and not a curse, I am now the owner of a beautiful 87 951, with a couple of boo boo's that need fixing, but she has only 47xxx miles, and some decent options.
ABS, cruise control, leather seats, twin airbag, Koni yellows. Black interior over Black Satin Metallic, which I like a lot unlike regular black (sorry!).
What are the boo boos? Well for starters, the nose panel, left headlight ,and bumper are off the car. The bumper is gone, fog lamps, turn signals, all that. My best guess is they were totaled, because the front end had a collision but the frame rail was spared so it seems. I couldn't really tell with the weeds around it.
It also has some damage in front of the drivers rear wheel, which I don't know how fixable it is. The car also desperately needs a paint job, but I like the colour unlike my guards red 89na (not sorry!)
The good news is, everything is stock, everything is there motor wise. It hasn't run in two years so I was told, and the last record of a belt job was in 2007. I plan to inspect the belt and see if it's not totally junk before I attempt to resuscitate the long dormant turbo motor..
I was in a rush to get done looking at the two cars, and I didn't get much in the way of pictures, but I did get one of the main damage. The rail is not hurt, I think a cellete bench and a good autobody guy can repair everything for me. Hopefully, fingers are crossed.
As far as I'm concerned, in the worst case scenario I have a car to part out, the neutral scenario where I swap the entire car into a good shell, or the best case where I'm able to successfully get it repaired, and get it driving again. The title is still clean, that was a big deal for me.
Oh and yes, I had to buy the 924 as well. But I've already given it to a friend in exchange for helping store the turbo indefinitely for me as I do not have room for it right now.
Very lucky for me, is that I know these cars already. So anything mechanical is no problem. The bodywork is going to be tough, but at the price I paid I can stomach it on this car easily. Especially seeing the prices just jump on these cars again.. 136k for that 3,100 mile car was crazy....

Luckily I have very good connections for getting new and used parts for anything 944 related. Perks of the business.
Very little. Thanks to the fact this thing is in the weeds behind a shop, and the owner needs the space to expand.
I was thinking about swapping the rear glass from my 89, just so I have my sticker windows. But I think I’ll keep the “No bad days” stickers. I think it sums up what this car is.

Hoping to have the car driving and bodywork fixed in less than 3 months here. Paintjob, who knows when. I just need a car to drive haha
