Does anybody make two-piece rotors for the 951/968?
My 968 track car will be needing new pads and rotors soon, and it would be nice to upgrade to a set of two-piece rotors with aluminum hats to save some unsprung weight, but extensive searching hasn't turned up anything. More track-focused rotors for the rears would be especially nice, because my car doesn't have parking brakes, and the large, heavy iron drums integrated into the rear rotors must weigh several pounds. Thanks.

Make an inquiry with these guys. If they don't have it, they'll make it: http://www.vehiclecraft.com/index.html

Thanks - the 968 is my "practice" track car (I race in an arrive-and-drive series in rented Radical SR1's at Atlanta Motorsports Park), so it might be hard to justify what is sure to be a steep price for custom brakes, but I'll contact VCI, smelling salts at the ready

Those look the business. I assume they're billet aluminum, correct? There isn't much information about them on Lindsey's site. I'm not an expert on brakes, but the previous owner of my car installed big red 4-piston calipers from a 1988 944 Turbo S, so they have the caliper adapters, and drilled Zimmerman rotors (not sure of the diameter, but they're much larger than stock, so I assume their diameter matches what came from the factory on an '88 Turbo S, I'm guessing 13"). So would I have to cut the existing iron hats off whatever rotors I would buy, and modify them to accept the Lindsay hats? I didn't see any rotors on Lindsey's site made to be compatible with their lightweight rotor hats. And are these hats available for the front and rear? As I said, it would be nice to get rid of the huge iron drums that serve as hats on the rear. Thanks.

I just went through this whole exercise last year upgrading the calipers and rotors on my '89 turbo.
FYI: Big Reds = Big Blacks with a different crossover tube placement due to leading v. trailing caliper arrangement 911 v 928GTS. '88 turbo S and '89 turbo calipers are sometimes called Medium Blacks. There are photos on the web showing the size difference.

JET951 aka Sean Buchanan is selling a great setup. Check out Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/groups/2078975368792722/

I have a similar setup consisting of Kokeln hard anodized hats and 993 TT rotors. I ran them on the street for a few thousand miles before removing them due to a slight imbalance issue that I never took the time to track down. If anyone wants them to play with I will make you a great deal.

As has been posted, VehicleCraft has 2pc direct fit front rotors in both floating and non-floating. I've run them on my track car for probably 15yrs now.

I guess if you are racing a lb here and a lb there in rotating mass may be important, but certainly not for a street car.

Yes, they look nice, and appear to be bolt-on ready with no modifications needed. It's disappointing that they don't have two-piece rotors for the rear, although I'm sure they'd be willing to create something.
