Default First Track day new engine

Saturday will be the first time at track day at amp in Phoenix area with my second 3.0. Should be a blast have not got it on the dyno yet to see what the numbers are but head to head is a great measurement. It has a hard time with traction, missing the 220 option the wave track is in the closet next to the ms pro ultimate stand alone computer, so it’s mafterburner fuel control and a peg leg 😂

Just a thought as i have gone through this situation on my own car. The external AOS catch can that you have is more meant for street cars. If you are going to track it, you might want to think about sealing it and connecting another line out of it back to the factory inlet location.

The idea on the street is fine but consider what is happening under boost.. the boost gets past the rings and you no longer have vacuum on the crankcase. Porsche mitigated this by routing the hose from the AOS to the inlet side of the turbo creating a Venturi effect to pull vacuum on the crankcase under boost. The problem is the AOS kinda sucks… so i re-mounted my catch can up front to keep it cool. With a sealed system it is able to keep vacuum, and allow for the hot air along with any water vapor from when it sits to be pulled into the catch can and condense. Basically creating a 2nd AOS in a sealed system.
just some food for thought. Have fun, be safe!

Default Engine performed flawlessly

The day at the track was allot to take in, the engine ran beyond expectations not missing a beat. 12 pounds of boost was way to much power for one old BFG a/s g force loosing traction in third gear 8psi was the number for the track. Running under 6 grand the hole day no oil in the breather can with oil temps 210 to 230 max engine temp ran cool the time On the track. With all the work done by myself the worries of every step of the build loomed large running the car hard, part of what makes it fun. What a CAR 😁😁😁😁😁😁

Thanks was real satisfying having a car the leaves much more high end cars in the straights the driver needs more seat time and traction to get out of the corners. This will help next time

I want to experience that satisfying feeling lol

I’m close to embarking on my 16v 3.0 build. It seems that on track is where a 16v really shines, I imagine it just keeps pulling hard. But on the street for daily driving, a 8v head from a 2.7 on a 104mm bore (so also a 3.0) would feel just about the same, as far as torque? Is that a fair statement? Or does a 16v outshine an 8v 3.0 there too?

Unsure of flow numbers on the 16V. My engine has more than enough for now we know how that goes. After a day at the track my mind is full of self criticism on lack of track knowledge and all the variables that comes with more track time. The greatest feeling is building it On your own and have it meet and exceed expectations!!!.

Sounds like fun! It’s been a while since I’ve had my 951 on track, but I’ve done a fair amount of autocross over the last several years. I’d be interested in hearing your impressions of the Wavetrac; these cars are hard to hook up with open differentials but the factory limited slip is expensive. Are you going to install it yourself?

I plan on having it put in when the trans gets rebuilt, California transmission in lake Havasuu AZ. I've done several autocross events, 1st and second gear only wasn't as fun as I thought. At the track I even g got into forth!!
