Descend ye vultures
Hi all,
I am afraid another 951 may be leaving the road. Two nights ago I was rear ended by Ford Mustang on the way home. It appears that PEMCO is moving to call the car a total loss. I really don't want to lose the car and am doing what I can to keep it from being called a total.
Anyway I wanted to stop in and say a few thanks:
Thanks Paragon Products, Lindsey Racing, and Power Haus. (All three vendors faxed me copies of invoices for all of my purchases over the years. This should help with my valuation argument and may ultimately save my car.)
Thanks to the board for all of the advice on my various projects:
1. Rod bearings
2. Clutch
3. Shocks and Springs
4. Turbo install
5. OPR
6. Front end re-seal / water pump
7. Sun roof repair
8. Clock bulb
9. DME trouble shooting and replacement
10. Venturi delete
11. Control arm replacement
12. Power steering rack rebuild
13. Fuel rail pressure gage
14. Boost enhancer
15. Adjustable FPR
16. Fuel pressure damper problems
17. The damn cat
18. Fresh fuel supply lines
19. TPS replacement
20. H4 upgrade
21. Rebuilt alternator
22. Starter
23. Turbo Tim Cat back
23. Etc...
Basicly this board is responsible for helping me diagnose and repair every problem my car has ever had and for that I am very greatful. If anyone has a 951 that they are ready to part with please let me know.
So why are they arguing to total the car? The impact was his right front headlight to my left rear tail light. The force was sufficient enough to buckle the left rear quarter panel and stretch the door gap on the passenger side.
If anyone local to the Pacific Northwest owns a body shop or is interested in a parts car let me know. I might have an opportunity to purchase it back for salvage. I don't want to break the car myself, but it is currently driveable. It has 185,000 miles on the odometer and has been well cared for. The turbo is a K27DR, the suspension is koni, the transmission has the optional oil cooler, blah blah blah...
Cheers,
Matt

I don't know how they could total the car. I was rear ended in mine years ago at a stoplight. Luckly I saw her comming and had some space between me and the front car. I had my foot off the brake and hit the brake right after impact, about 25-30mph. These cars can take a hit! and survive. My one fender was buckled and pulled back into place. Bumper shocks were replaced along with piece where the license goes. The hatch glass was fine. Rear spoiler under bumper was repaired. Don't take NO for an answer PERIOD! I assume you are dealing with there insurance company. If they want to get testy then start complaining about your "neck injury"!!

Sorry to hear that man...
It's a good thing you have receipts. That will help with the insurance valuation -- but they won't add the cost of your own labor, I'm afraid... Good luck!

It was nice talking to you Matt, Good luck with the insurance company. Keep me posted on the status.
If things work out I should be picking this car up.
Thanks,
Jason

I would wait until you get some offers back from your insurance company. If you are lucky you will be able to buy another 951 cheap and have the 86 for parts.
I would sell mine for $6000 U.S,
