Default Anyway to seal a leaking Turbo Coolant pump?

My turbo coolant pump is leaking, but otherwise works fine. Has anyone tried to seak these puppies up, with JB Weld or something similar?

Thanks.

If its leaking, its toast.

I've torn one apart, and there are no "user serviceable" parts.

Sorry.

They aren't rebuildable, so I don't think you could harm it any further by trying JB Weld or something similar.

Oh yeah, JB Weld is just the stuff to fix something like this. Not! JB Weld is crap.

When mine leaked, I removed it and found that the bent-over tabs that hold the motor to the pump had worked loose. I tightened them and the pump ran fine until it siezed after a month or two. I don't know if there was a relationship between repair and failure or whether it was coincidental.

I resealed mine, works just fine. It was leaking from where the two plastic housings mate together. Its just screwed together. I used Ultra Grey RTV.

I opened mine up where the two plastic housings mate together and found a rubber gasket that dropped right out. Wouldn't replacing the gasket suffice?

Mine was working just fine with only 65K miles on it, but it was leaking from where this gasket should seal the plastic housings.

From the way it's designed, I believe the coolant only circulates inside these housings, and not upwards past the impeller and electric motor.

Luis:

I've torn one completely down, and even if you could replace the pump housing seal, you cannot get the shaft seals.

In my case the upper drive shaft seal was leaking coolant into the motor housing.

I have a new pump which I plan to install in the next couple of days.

Yes, I have already bought and replaced the pump with the updated 951.606.130.01 unit, which supersedes the original pump and appears to be more heavy duty. Dealer price here in Spain is €129 plus tax. Final price for me was €135.

Before tossing my old pump out, I took it apart and thought that it might be repairable, but from what Charlotte944 says, I guess not!

Euro 135 is an extremely good price IIRC, the cheapest i saw now runs at over US$200+
