Zeitronix Boot-up Glitch?
Anybody else notice that the Zeitronix display sometimes does not boot-up? If I turn the ignition key too quickly, my Zeitronix never goes on and I have to turn off the car and re-start to get the Zeitronix to boot up. Anybody else have this happen?

Haven't had a problem in the track car. When I get to the hot pits, I turn the engine off. I then connect the signal cable to the laptop. I start the engine several minutes before we go onto the track and have not missed a download.

Sorry about the off topic question, but have any of you had problems with the connection between the zeitronix and the laptop? I have a usb-serial cabel, because my laptop, IBM R51, doesnt got a serial connector.. When logging the Zt-2, WinXP often get the famous blue screen and need to be restartet. Could this be the usb-serial cabel or is there a software conflict somewhere? When logging the SMT6 theres no problems with the same usb-serial connector!

Thomas - this is what I was telling you. The zeitronix is too fast for USB. It will NEVER work correctly.
The reason for no problem with SMT6 is that it is not high speed like the ZT2.

I use a USB to Serial cable (converter) also, for the same reason. It works, but sometimes it will just stop logging on its own, and I have to restart the logging. I don't have to reboot anything, just restart logging in the windows program. I never thought that might be because of the USB connection speed (or lack thereof). What's the issue there?

Which USB/serial converters do you have? I don't have a Zeitronix, but have had other cases where certain converters worked fine and others would drop connections or cause errors.

and I thought that I had a fast laptop!
But, are you serious? Is the zt-2 to fast for a usb connection?? hehe!
I quess I could try another serial-usb converter! Dont remember the name for it now, but will post the name when I`ve checked!
I see that zeitronix offer a usb-serial converter! Anyone used this? Does it work? What brand?

It is my understanding that USB to Serial adapters vary pretty widely in quality. I "rented" one from Office Depot for a month and made ~30 runs with it. I never had a problem, it worked fine every time. I don't doubt that some people are having problems with some converters though.
