The wastegate out !! NEW PICS LOADED in first post!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I finally got all this stuff but can't get this top bolt holding the starter heatshield in place. It's currently soaking in a lube hoping to break it free tomorrow....
This is the whole reason why I had to remove the wastegate to remove the heat shield so I could remove the starter.
For clarification, this is what the starter and shield looks like. The top 17mm bolt is the one in the top pictures that is holding the torque tube shaft. That is the reason for this mess. I wish I only had teh two 17mm bolts on the bellhousing.....

I didnt even have to remove my wastegate to remove the starter heat shield. Good luck though, after the heat shield is off, the rest of the removal is very easy and the starter comes right out.

It was a combination of the wastegate and hanger preventing an accessable angle to get to the bolt. It's close enough to the torque tube that I can't get a wrench on it and I had to go through where the wastegate is get a socket and swivel on it.
The guys at the shop who put the test pipe didn't even bother to use teh hanger for wastegate which is probably a good thing. With the Tial instal, the bracket around the torque tube for the hanger is coming off as well.

The bolt in the picture is the bottom right bolt for the torque tube housing. The bolt also holds the top heatshield. The top heatshield is covering rear starter bolt.

It should be possible to remove the starter with that heatshield in place. You may have to bend the heat shile a little to free it from the small bolts at the backside of the starter.

I still don't get this. When looking at the starter from the back of the car, there are two heatshields. I only removed the one on the right side. There are two 17mm bolts on the clutch housing that have to be loosened, then there is one small nut on the starter. I could then slide the shield off. No bending needed.
Is this different on later models?

On the back of the starter, I have two 8mm nuts that thread onto thei posts. I have the two 17mm bolts on the side of the bellhousing that only need to be loosened.
For some freaking reason known to God and Porsche only, there is the third mounting point that shares the 17mm bolt with the touque tube.
I'll take better pictures to explain it tomorrow.

Cool touch up with the image. I was thinking of doing something with it.
