What is the difference between the Griffen radiator and the stock one? Is this a bolt on or are modifications required?

Any estimates on when we'll actually place the order and how long it will take for them to be made/shipped?

And how much do you expect the shipping to cost?

This is a 100% bolt-on replacement to a stock 951 radiator, except Griffin radiators are ALL aluminum, they don’t have the plastic end tanks like the stock radiators have.

If you have an NA - you would need to get Turbo mounting brackets from what I was told, but if you have Turbo - its direct bolt on.

I would like to have the group buy done by say next Friday maybe? I don’t really know though, like I said - I am waiting on a response from Scotty right now, so once I hear back from him - I should have all the info. I would assume shipping would be no more than $25 to most places, but I could be wrong?

Anyone from the last GB remember what the shipping costs were?

Thanks,
Matt

I don't remember the shipping costs, but they weren't bad. They were shipped as they were made - in the order they were paid for. I gotta tell ya - these things are GREAT. You cannot go wrong. I'm glad Griffen agrees to do this and I recommend that everyone here avail themselves. I'm happy with mine.

Default Core thickness

I thought the cores were thicker than stock? Are you saying that other than construction there are no cooling benifits from a Griffin?

I don't know about the cores being thicker than stock, etc...can't answer that part for you (maybe Bill from the last GB will chime in here).

But as far as cooling benefits, it's quite the opposite. My 951 with my Griffin radiator runs the COOLEST it's EVER run....PERIOD. I had overheating issues ever since I first bought the car. We tried using a lower temp fan switch, lower temp thermostat, water wetter, etc...Nothing completely solved the problem - UNTIL we installed the Griffin.

Bottom line - if you own a 951, and you haven't purchased one of these yet, even if your current radiator is fine or if you've recently replaced with another oem unit, BUY ONE OF THESE!!! I got mine during the first GB and ended up needing it within 2 months of receiving due to the original letting go.

If you've modded your car, then you have an even stronger case for needing the extra cooling capacity the Griffin unit can provide.

I can't sell the good points on these units enough - it will be, bottom line, one of the best investments you'll make for your car's reliability/longevity. Case closed.

Any other questions, let me know.

For an individual to have Griffin build them this radiator it would cost them $545.00 plus shipping for one unit. $405 will be the price of the radiators as long as we get 10 people that buy one.

First of all, thanks again Matt for pulling this together.

Here are a couple of useful threads on this topic for folks that are considering joining the GB:

Testimonials from those that were in on the first GB:
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=20449

And here's the original thread for the GB where Bill answers LOTS of questions:
https://rennlist.com/forums/showthre...ferrerid=20449

PLEASE NOTE: The price on the original GB was $365 for 10 or more, which apparently was mistakenly committed to by our contact at Griffin. To their credit they stood behind the price that time but for this run it's $405 for 10+.

Matt - I'm very interested. When is the "drop-dead" date?
