Default Dropping engine and hoist used.

I am to the point of dropping the cross-member and I need an engine hoist to continue. However, I'm curious if the legs that stick out on front of folding 2-ton/3-ton hoists would get in the way of the engine as it's being lowered. Trying to return a hoist doesn't sound like fun.

As far as renting goes I have no idea where to start and, with the cost of a generic hoist only being around $180 I could buy one and sell it for $100 in 6 months when I'm done ;P

I'm in SW Washington. Has to be a competitive price after shipping though.

Go to Pep Boys, they have a lift that will do the trick and is very well priced. I thought you were just dropping the cross member to get at the oil pan.

So many stores that aren't around here.
*shakes fist*

I'll have to start scouting the Portland area.

Auto Zone will loan you a hoist. True, you pay a large deposit up front but they give it back when you return the hoist. I don't know if you have Auto Zones in Wash. but try your major parts houses, they may have the same deal.

Default Here's a thought

I made a nice support out of 4x4's and some chain. Works great and takes about an hour to construct if you have some simple tools. A trip to Home Depot is all you need.

Good luck!
