Default Removing Windshield Wipers (permenatly)

Does anyone have a write up on this to get rid of them totally? Looking to do this in a few days when I get home, doing some research...she's a fair weather car anyway.

I don't know where you're car is registered but if it is going to be street legal most states require functioning wipers and test them during inspections.

It's relatively simple, it's just unbolt, unbolt, pull the assembly. You might want to consider keeping the drivers side.

Well she'll be on the street about 2% of the time and the wipers are the least of my po-po concerns! Does anyone make a single blade conversion that sweeps like the merc units?

I unbolted mine to re-paint and noticed the car looks tons better without them on.

Have you considered replicating the aerodynamic cover employed on the 968 turbo race car? It is a hood extension that covered the wipers.

Streckfu: I'm looking at going totally clean, deleting the windshield washers & equipment related to those, bonding the header panel to the hood and deleting the headlights, louvering the back of the hood (see pic) to relieve pressure and heat, intercooler exit vent and duct etc.
If I decided to retain the wipers it would have to be a single GT3 style unit that has a full sweep motion, but I think its just alot cleaner without them in the picture. Thanks though!

Thanks SKI!

This is a bad idea. For yours and everyone else’s sake, you really should keep at least one. You have no idea when you will need it, but I can guarantee that you will need it at least once in the future. I had the “pleasure” of being cough in a rain with a non operating wiper once, it was scary. All it take is one summer thunderstorm or something being splashed up/thrown out of a car in front of you and you’ll be glad that you have them.

Ran for a couple of months without the wipers, since it's freaking hot and dry here.

Did not notice anything at all, but the view on the hood was much cooler if that matters.

Havent had wipers on for the past 3 years.... I only installed one for a brief road trip I was going on as I didnt know how well I could keep rainX on the windshield during those 4 days.

I've used my wipers on the track before, worth keeping if you ever run in the rain. RainX helps, but it isn't an ultimate solution (at least not for me).

Any more pics of your hood, are the louvers stamped ? looks very nice.

I had louvers stamped in my hood, car is still in the bodyshop, looks good unpainted, hope they help in heat removal.

Have had mine off for 2 years now...went through last MN winter with nothing but RainX and have already been tested in a couple monsoon thunderstorms here in Phoenix with the same protection.

Wipers are stayin' off :-p

Not my hood, but something identical is on the way - got some louver sets from 928 motorsports that are going where yours are on the outter edges of the hood back towards the windshield, the vents are going from the windshield to just before the front axle, vents directly over the front axle tend to upset downforce and stability (turbulence) so i've been told.

MPD47 - Thanks man, if you can make it without 'em I know I'll be fine. Car will see like 8 days a year on the street if that!

Thanks again guys! Any one have close up pics without them on the car? MPD47 I KNOW you have a close up that shows off the lack of wipers....

I think that's the closest I have. It looks really clean without wipers. I actually put the motor back in so on longer road trips I can quickly bolt one on if the RainX starts to drop off quickly or I have to slow way down and cannot see.
