I put a big ugly red glasspack on mine. Worked, sounded pretty nice too.

how do glasspacks sound on 951's?

i've got a dynomax and a magnaflow (dynomax instead of a cat) and it sounds cool, but i would think a glasspack on a 4 cyl would sound raspy or something.

Honestly when I put it on I didn't even consider how it would sound, just wanted something that was straight thru. It sounded 'throaty', not raspy at all, and didn't sound like a gnat on steroids like so many cars going down the road now days. Other people at the track seemed to like the sound. I'll see if I can pull audio off of one of my tapes of a track run (without wind) and let you hear it.

Regards,
Russell

you dont need a muffler, save some weight and money, just put a satraight pipe in, its actually not as loud as one would think, as it doesnt resonate like a muffler and sounds really good
I put a 17"? long megaphone on from Megs check burnsstainless.com

Here's a short clip to give you an idea what it sounded like.

Just straight pipe it, the only time its real loud is WOT until redline over 4k rpm. Everything else is really docile and has a beautiful depth to it not found with a muffler.

I had a Flowmaster 40. Much too loud and very "ricey".
Now I use a Borla XR-1 Sportsman and I like it.
I can even go on longer trips without wearing earplugs!

I have a magnaflow that a local speed shop installed, the boost comes on slightly earlier and I hear a little more turbo whine, but the car about as loud as stock. I wanted a little more sound than that exhaust offers, but I am also happy my ears will be preserved.

I wonder, if I can fit my muffler with a clamp and for track time just clamp on a straightipe and then switch back to the mufflerfor the street?
