Default The Complete Venturi Update Kit

For a long time now, guys have been installing the venturi delete kits to get rid of the octopus mess under the intake. I did the upgrade quite a few years ago now, and did a writeup on the procedure as many of you might know (search for venturi delete, and you will find it). I was always baffled that the car smoked a bit under boost, when I hadn't noticed it before. I didn't really think anything of it.

Flash forward a few years, and a lot more experience around the cars, and something came to my attention. When working on a customers 89 turbo track car, I noticed a hose that was not on my car. Before, I had run a hose from the oil air seperator, to the j-boot. On the 89 turbo, this was the same, only the hose has a springed small check valve in it between the OAS and the J-boot (actually between the OAS and the metal hardpipe running to the j-boot). So I looked it up in PET, and sure enough, it was suppose to be there. $100 later, I had the hose and valve in my hand.

I will update the writeup eventually. I put the part numbers in the word document, but I really need to redo the entire thing, and since I have the engine sitting clean and on a stand, I just may do that.

Brake Booster to Intake Manifold: 951.110.223.01
ISV to Intake Manifold: 951-110-221-00
ISV to Intake Pipe: 951-110-217-01
OAS to J-boot and Check Valve: 944.107.311.03 & 944.107.324.00

Can you post of a pic of it installed. I'm having a hard time visualizing where it goes.

Okay, so you are saying that the OAS to J-boot and Check Valve: 944.107.311.03 & 944.107.324.00 need to be ordered and replaced in addition to the others pictured?

I just received my delete kit and it did not come with that hose nor one to use in its place.

Correct. I will try and do some mock up install pictures when I get a chance. I should have shot a picture with the 89 manifold off, as it was in plain view.

I will have to get my mech to tell me again what they did to mine. But basiclally they took one hose from/to the intake and reconected it somewhere else; capped the old spot off and that was it.

Venturi bypassed and still full power brakes etc. Took all of 10 min.

But did they retain the dried, rotton, and cracked rubber lines?

Nope. Riped all of the Venturi crap out and re routed that one hose and that was it. Any other hoses that were there were replaced to knew ones.

Of course I told them about the kit and the process and they said "well, people get a lot of crap said and sold to them on the internet."

This is the same shop I go to that I have mentioned in here before that it is a Porsche only shop and grew from being a race only shop and the owner used to race with/partners with Alex Job.

ahhhh crap...........I just did my venturi delete a couple months ago. I dont remember any check valve in the tube from the AOS to the J-boot. In fact I think I just bought some new heater hose and replaced the tube with that...........dam.....I cant remember for sure.

I do have all the old hoses still laying around in the garage.........guess I will have to go through them and see.

It will not be in your 86 stuff, this was 89 and later which did not have the venturi stuff.

I am uterly confused.
Did they just reroute one line and cap another or did they replace it all?

"Did they just reroute one line and cap another"

Yes. That is it.

When I said they replaced the other hoses, I meant the original hoses while they had the intake off. They did not ADD any hoses like in the kit.

I'd love to see a picture with your intake off. It's been awhile since I have really looked at the venturi assembly, but I don't see how that is possible. Porsche updated to these hoses in 89 so they could get rid of the venturi mess. If it was as easy as capping a port, you'd think they would have done it.
