nkgoss: My condolances, I feel for people who get taken advantage of - its just not how the world should be. May you have strength beyond your normal means to go through this tough time - God knows you'll need it.

Might also want to have the local police do a periodic drive by on your house to make sure there isn't anyone scoping out your area.

Yea, my point was if they were going to bother to install cameras at all, why not install ones where you can at least see something other than a fuzzy blob. Strikes me as exceptionally stupid/cheap/retarded.

And (as was said) that car looks nice even despite the low resolution lousy pics.

Sheesh! My cell phone takes better pictures than that thing!

I don't suppose there are any other cameras on nearby buildings or light poles that might have better/more useful footage for you?

What part of town is the garage in? I will definately be on the lookout, a 951 will stick out like a sore thumb around here right now because of the weather and road conditions. Is your car a daily driver, I don't think my 951 will be leaving the garage until April or May, or whenever the mountain of snow in front of my third stall melts....

Stunning car. And everything about that car (color, wheels, interior...) is rare enough that it would be easy to spot if it surfaces again...

This sucks. Anyway, I just have to sit and wait 21 days and then fight for what the car is worth.

Lorax, I'm sorry if what I say offends you and please excuse my ignorance of the operating costs of a parking lot, but to get half decent digital cameras in bulk would work out pretty cheap I'm guessing. To put in a couple of ticketing machines and a secure pay only outlet system is again not expensive. The overheads of a block of land with a gate sounds pretty cheap or a version of what you describe. I can park out in the street for free. The reason I pay to park in a lot is for the privilege is of the security. Now when you think of it, it's probably easier to steal a car in a dark dingy corner of an unattended parking lot than out in the open of the street. So I'll think twice before I pay the premium of parking in one of these lots again. I bet there's a fortune to be made be owning a parking lot too???

Default camera costs

"...to get half decent digital cameras in bulk would work out pretty cheap I'm guessing."

Having just received quotes on camera systems, I can tell you that any decent system isn't cheap.

16 moisture resistant (average quality) dome cameras plus the DVR (30 days retention time on recordings) plus installation quoted between $13K and $16K from three different vendors.

Granted, this could possibly allow for a tax deduction, but that's still pretty expensive and really doesn't benefit the garage owner that much.
