I use the FF as an example since they are the most common Cobra replica out there. Very few have the stock stang motor. FF's have a unique *** end, I'm pretty sure that is one.

Unlike many of the 356 speedster replicas which just have VW engines, the Cobra replicas usually have one of the 5.0L Mustang engines or even something more powerful..

yes...it can sometimes be difficult to discern real from fake unless of course they have plates like the below one. However considering the pic was taken in the Bay Area it could easily have been real.

heh... looks a little like my friend's...
Recently I made a surround-sound recording of it 'doughnutting' around a 'SoundField' microphone...
His is a REAL cobra, but there are a few changes, like the hubs/wheels have been replaced with lugnut versions. All the orignal stuff is in the garage at home.
-And yes, it'll KILL a 951 in a straight line, but round a corner, even he says he doesn't stand a chance!!! -951 will kill it every time!
-Here's a beauty shot of my baby just because i'm an :

A 951 is a lot easier to drive fast. I've only driven a few replica's (Superformance brand) they are a handfull.
I find it odd someone would convert original knock offs to lugs. Even if you wanted to save the original wheels you can buy freplica knock off Halibrands. Must be an aftermarket hood - most scoups are rivited on.

I've got a DTS encoded recording of it here, and it's pretty amusing... the car goes whizzing round you in a circle, and you hear the 'scattering' of leaves in its wake afterwards. -I recorded a short announcement before we started, and you can also hear the wind blowing the leaves around during that...
As for not disrespecting him, I don't think that's a problem, he doesn't claim to be a great driver... neither do I... but I do know that it's very light at the back, and if you hit ANY sort of bump during a hard corner, tail-wags-dog and around it comes!!! MUCH more sensitive to rear end unsettling.
Maybe a particularly well-sorted one would indeed be better, but this one is definately a bit of an ill-tempered beast! He has a couple of Mustang Cobras, one of which he takes to the strip... ¼-mile racing is his 'thing', and turning the wheel kinda scares him a bit, I reckon!
There's also two bodies: the original Aluminum body and a fiberglass Everett-Morrison. I dont' remember if the aluminum one has a scoop or not... I'll see if he has a shot of the body -or bodies- to post.
