Question Safe to drive with fuel rail gauge installed

Maybe a dumb question, but is it safe to drive with a fuel rail gauge installed, or should you only install it to check/adjust your fuel pressure, then replace it with the factory plug for driving?

Is it leaking when pressurized?

Haven't put it on yet. Let's assume it doesn't leak

When you put it on you will need to determine if there is any potential for interference between the gauge and the hood. If I recall correctly the issue here was surrounding cars that had poor/failing motor mounts causing a lot of vibration and possibly causing the gauge to hit the hood. If it doesn't leak, doesn't interfere and your motor mounts are good I would think it is safe. I ran mine with the gauge installed for at least 1 season with no problems, but I am under the hood of my car checking things out pretty often.

i would not drive with it on for a long time. i've installed them, set fuel pressure, then removed them. there's always a possibility of failure.

When I had my 951, i purchased one. an Autometer showed up, i put it on, and within a few days the diaphragm inside had blown out and it was pouring fuel out of the display. I replaced it with a VDO which did not leak, but the casing became loose due to vibration. If I had the car now, I would have removed it by now, its not necessary to keep on, and with the vibration it sees being mounted to the motor, and its proximity to the headers and turbo, its not something I would recommend.

I just installed one on my civic on the firewall off the fuel filter. It sees no vibration there, however its likely I'll still remove it. I put it on since I'm getting some pre work info. I'll be doing some mre engine work, and experimenting with CBR 12 nozzle injectors and fuel pressures on the dyno.

DONT DO IT, WHY RISK A CARBEQUE WHEN YOU ONLY NEED IT ON TO SET YOUR PRESSURE THEN REMOVE IT AND PUT IT ON THE SHELF FOR LATER!!

Thanks for all the replies. I'm still a little confused, but I think I'll play it safe.

I only ask because I see a lot of engine bay pics here--many with gauges installed, and I think to myself, did they JUST get done playing with their fuel pressure, or is that thing always there??

same experience like posted above: Started leaking after some time. Gauge filled up with fuel. You don´t want to have a possible fuel leak that close to the exhaust! Only install for checking the pressure.
