Ferrari F40 Style Extration Vented Lexan Rear Hatch Screen - Testing the water
Considering developing a vented rear hatch made from Lexan and Macrolon coated (scratch resistant) to prevent compressureisation blowout and the need to use twin braces to mean race/track criteria and also allow the extraction of excess heat out from the cabin.
Are we wasting our time on this or does the project have a future - Please let me know your thoughts.
Here are some pics of our current Lexan rear hatch which is German TUV tested, certified and approved and the best quality and fitting version currently available (not oversized) also tinted to Porsche original spec and extremely light weight:
and this is what I want to create:
Thoughts please, cheers Mark

That would be interesting, I am sure dedicated track cars would go for it as long as sanctioning bodies don't interfere. I would be interested in one in the near future. Keep us posted.

I intend on aproaching the 924 cup race series in the UK as a good friend of mine races in the series.
We have discussed this issue in detail and I'm just working on the mould costs as these are extremely expensive but 'F@@K IT, I want one myself and it's something new that nobody else has ever done.
I will create a vacum formed version first for testing purposes and if it works then I'll get the finished Lexan job done.
I'll keep you posted mate.

Just thought I'd let you all see these babes which have just been finished.
The only convex versions available for all 924/944 and 968 cars again Macrolon coated Lexan and trimmed to perfect size:
I'll post some other versions later

We hope to have this done very soon but first I need to create the buck mould in clay and then have a vacum formed mould created next so we car test at speed with the front windows down.
I am working on the 3D models at the momrnt so wil post some pics soon.
It is important that the design allows for the fittment of a rear trunk deck mounted spoiler so the vents wil be located towards the top - probably 4 of them.
I will do some computer generated wind result first to look at associated vortex vibration effects etc.
I'll get these models up ASAP when finished.
