Default Calipers done and on

Nothing extrodinary that the rest of you haven't done. I installed the powder coated backing plates, rotor hubs, and calipers. Just thought I would share the color choice in case anyone is thinking of going yellow. The only thing I don't like about the BBS wheels is you just can't see the nice calipers as well as with a 5 spoke wheel. I know the wheels are a bit dirty, need to get the polish out. The big fronts are next.

Very nice, are your discs plated? Next time I replace the fronts I think I'll get some that are plated so they don't rust and look like crap...

Dan
Get motivated dude, summer is not far off.

Yes I had the entire rotor front and back done. They did of course tape off the surface the brake pads contact. I then had the rotors turned and also recut the area where the parking brake shoes contact. They forgot to tape that area off but I was going to resurface it anyway. The biggest pain was putting in longer studs for the thicker wheels, but at least I didn't break anything. Yet.

What do you have them plated with?

LJ you appear to have a cover over the disc surrounding it or am I seeing things?

very nice setup. You can see the calipers just fine. No need to be too obvious. Very nice.

Looks great!

Just curious - was it cheaper to have your discs plated and resurfaced than to just buy new ones?

looks great! that is on my list for this spring

what type of high temp paint did you use? just wondering because my application is also a track appliance and I am worried about the extremely high brake temps!

333pg333: Yes that is the stock dust cover around them.
The rotor/hub were bead blasted and then powder coated and then turned/resurfaced. No plating of any kind.
As far as the cost they charged me under $100.00 to blast 2 calipers, 2 dust shields, and 2 rotor/hubs, and powder coat all but the calipers.

troppo: I just used a 500 degree paint because it is a street car application. For the race car I will do a 1000 or 2000 degree paint. The only reason I do paint and not powder on the calipers, it's just easier not having to pull the calipers apart.

It looks very nice. I just did mine a couple of months ago and they are holding up quite well.

I've heard of some people doing a zinc or nickel plating so they don't rust. I painted the rear hats with 500 deg paint and it worked, also.
