Default boost question, real easy.

walk me through this one here. So if I have a tial with a 1 bar spring (14.5psi) and a black **** boost controller (cv bye bye) I shouldn't be able to make less than 14.5psi of boost even with the black **** turned all the way down... right?

For the most part you're right, but it can also vary with the setup of your hot side... If your turbo causes a lot of back pressure in the crossover pipe, the wastegate will open a little sooner. It should still be close though. I have a .8 bar spring, but when I run a direct line to the side port, my boost drops to around 10psi. Thats about 1.5 psi shy of .8bar.

cool. Another question that doesn't need to be asked but I can't help it so here it is.. I know a bunch of you guys run the LR black **** controller, how much turning does it take to increase or decrease boost?? I'm guessing you have to be more than subtle but would like some experience input before I go cranking.

sorry no help - don't subscribe to using the "black **** of death"

AEM truboost is my EBC of choice. LOVE IT! reasonable price, excellent features, reliable. and a boost guage as well. Easy swap from two different boost settings or off.
installation much more involved than the death **** however.

Party on!

From my experience, even with the smallest, slight turn, it is very sensitive to touch

smokintr6, I'm in your shoes. I have the .8 bar (11.6psi) spring and I'm only making 9.9psi according to my z. my factory guage coinsides with it's vague effort. I was thinking it had to be a leak issue but from what you're telling me the kkk #8 is known to create that much back pressure. If this is my case then I should be able to turn the "evil" **** slightly and see an increase in boost. I would really be suprised if I have a boost leak considering... well considering I thought I covered that during assembly and the boost comes on really quick and hard.

anyone out there making the spring pressure boost with the same setup???

small turns are noticable. I turn mine about 1/2 turn to increase about 1-2 psi? IF I remember correctly.
