Good article about the two cars. The final pick is completely subjective and based on personal opinion. I will not spoil it yet.

I got mine two days ago.
Couldn't believe the outcome! Yes purely subjective.

The 928 board is already 6 pages long on the article.

i haven't gotten mine yet...can't wait to see it though.

If I recall correctly, a year or 2 ago they ran a similar comparison between a 928 and a 964...neither car was exactly stock and the outcome was kinda subjective, but it was an interesting look at two nice cars nonetheless

Excellence is the last resort for fair articles, they are bias to 911's and 928's what they consider to be true Porsche. Tell me who in his right mind would pick a tractor, a luxury sedan over a 951, a car with a racing heritage, a car that was born in Le mans, tell me who?

I was looking at the GTS or the 951 1 year ago. Almost the exact same cars in this article. I drove several 928's but had a hard time finding a good clean one. BUT I did want a 928 over the 951 based on looks and sound alone. 928s that I drove did seem very front end heavy, but they sounded alot better than the 951. They also had alot more low end torque early on in the rpm range.
BUT.....
I ended up going with a 951 when I heard what one could sound like with a different muffler. I also had a chance to drive one that was set up for autocrossing. Its boost came on around 2200 rpm's and its suspension had 968 sport pieces installed. WOW! What a different car. In short a 951 has alot more potential than a 928 does! I would love to see this article again comparing the two with about $5000 in upgrades. I dont think the 928 would have a chance but you must admit that a black 928 GTS is one of the best looking cars out there.

Pretty lopsided comparison if you ask me. A V8 vs an inline 4? And on Exc911ence to boot.

Aside from saying that the 928 looked better than the 951, I thought he was pretty fair until the last paragraph. In the end he didn't have anything bad to say about the 951, but his choice was obviously biased, which he at least admitted to. It's sad that some of the newer Porsche snobs will probably read it and decide to find a 928 without trying a 951 though. Oh well, more for us.

Good write up, and I think all of us would bring our own bias when picking between the two cars. I would love to have both of them (at this point I would just like to have a car, but after 4 years with out one, I don't see that changing soon), but if I had to choose just one, my bias and history of owning 944's would land me in the 951.

Thanks for sharing the link.....
