not used hawk Blue but do use PFC 97's. I love the pad and had good wear characteristics and is not too hard on the rotors. I think I may change to 01's though to increase initial bite (more aggressive)

Hawk Blue = great stopping power, but hard on the rotors and the brake dust is very corrosive. PFC 97's give better modulation, less rotor wear, and less dust in my experience.

I out ran my Oranges with M030 brakes/cooling but no dedicated ducting. Stopping power held, but it was inconsistent enough that I decided I need to try increasing the ducting.

Pagid Blacks yield a high brake torque. Yellows are close on the brake torque and "feel" easier to modulate. I had the Blacks on a 86 951 and the Yellows on a e46 M3.

Pagid Yellow. Good intial bite, strong torque, maybe double the service life of the Hawk Blues if properly cooled.

Hawk Blue = great stopping power, but hard on the rotors and the brake dust is very corrosive.
+ 1 on all points

Default Thanks guys

I have been running Hawk Blues for years and I like the stopping power but they squeak like hell. Not sure why?? I do leave them on for occasional street driving maybe that is a no no. Primarily a track car so its not worth changing them out but maybe this year I'll get to drive it more than just at the track.

Most track pads will squeak like hell if not warmed up, I usually swap in dedicated pads before an event and take them out afterwards. Cant stand that sound on the street...not to mention the looks you get at stoplights

i like the hawk blues- just bought another set for this season- on the track they dont squeal at all- stop great- lots of dust. On the street i swap to a ceramic metalmaster pad to keep from tearing the rotors up.

Hawk HT-10's are my favorites, much easier on rotors too.

Pagid oranges, Run Sebring and RA. Both very tough on brakes. Haven't had to change my undergarments yet, after a hot session. Do squeal like pigs on the street though

Brian:

I ran Blues in my big blacks last season and was very pleased with the stopping power but the dust was miserable. I got about half way through them in about 6 DE days. This year I have purchased PF01s. They were significantly more expensive than the Blues but are supposed to offer better everything.

Some short local trips to the gas station and alignment shop show that they are much quieter on the street than the Blues. I try them on the track at NHMS starting May 18th. Look for me on the 19th (#77 in black run group) and I will give you a complete report.

Thanks I'll be there instructing the 19th and 20th, look forward to seeing you. I'll probably still be on Blues myself.
